Who is excited about the new Gilmore Girls on Netflix? My friend Melissa and I are cooking our way through the entire series of Gilmore Girls, one Friday Night Dinner at a time. Be sure to check out her delish recipes, too, at Simply Whisked.
ONE week guys, ONE WEEK! I’ve already told Ricky and the family that ALL holiday movies are shelved until after we binge Gilmore Girls. It’s a given, DUH.
Since it’s a celebratory occasion, Founders Day Punch is very necessary. This punch made an appearance quite a few times on the show, most famously when Rory, Paris and Lane were having boy problems in Season 5. It’s obvious on the show that this punch is strong, so be warned: this is dangerous. Dangerously GOOD. It almost tastes like a Mai Tai.
There are various versions of this recipe floating around the internet, but there wasn’t one that I thought sounded just right. You see, Miss Patty is quite the character. I see her enjoying bourbon, but also champagne. I wanted this punch to be something you could easily make at home by the glass or gallon. Hopefully by 1-2 rounds, you’ll be telling stories like Miss Patty! She is the queen of TMI and innuendo, and GG wouldn’t be the same without her sass.
- 1/2 cup Bourbon (I like Bulleit)
- 1/2 cup Pinapple Vodka
- 1/2 cup Orange Juice
- 1 bottle Champagne
- 2 T Cherry Juice (or grenadine)
- 1 orange , thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup Maraschino cherries
-
Pour all ingredients into a pitcher.
-
Enjoy safely--this is strong!
To make this into a single glass:
•1 shot Bourbon
•1 shot Pinapple Vodka
•1 teaspoon cherry juice
•1 splash OJ
•Top with champagne
To make a single glass version of the punch, see the notes on the recipe. You might as well make a pitcher though, since you have to pop the champagne bottle. You’ll thank me later!
How excited for November 25th are you? What’s your favorite episode? I truly can’t answer than question, but I think the Founders Day Punch one in episode 5 is up there. I love how Paris is walking the streets of Star’s Hollow looking for a quarter to call Doyle. They were all a hot mess!
If you’re snowed in or just caught up in a Netflix binge-a-thon, there is a PERFECT delivery system for you: Drizly. I feel like Lorelai and Rory would LOVE a booze delivery, don’t you? You can shop locally online, pick what you want and have your order on it’s way QUICKLY. Can you believe it?! I’m so ready for them to be in Grand Rapids! Here’s more details: how Drizly works. For this recipe, be sure to order some Bulleit Bourbon.
If you try this punch, be sure to let me know what you think! Also, feel free to drop ANY Gilmore Girls tidbits in the comments. I love GG discussions! Like: who do you think Rory ends up with?

Can you change out the vodka? Planning a girls gathering when all this rubbish is over but one of the girls really really can’t drink vodka could you maybe use white rum? X
Dash Of Evans says
Of course! Make it your own!

I am currently doing a Gilmore Girl read-athon that lasts two weeks with a Gilmore Girls themed activity every day. I wanted to make founders day punch tonight and I found your recipe and it is on point!! I had to add a little bit more orange juice in the recipe calls for because I’m not as strong as Rory but it is so good. I’m team Jess all of the way but I think Logan is the father of her baby!!
