Summer was a bit rough on me health wise. In July, I found out I had blood clots in my left leg and a condition called DVT (deep vein thrombosis). For the past 3 months I had to take blood thinners (awful!) and every time I would bump into something, I would get a HUGE bruise. Not fun at all, my friends. My doctor told me I could resume normal exercise and activities, but it wasn’t that easy–my leg would cramp up or I would feel awful. Plus, I feel like I got very foggy from the medication–I am still quite forgetful!
A combination of DVT and summer tasty food/drinks, my health goals kind of flew out the window. Now it’s time to get back on track! I almost feel like I’m starting from square one. The hardest part of becoming active and watching what I eat is my cravings. I go through days where I just want to eat salty chips and chocolate. Finding snacks that are waistline friendly AND cure my cravings is always a mission of mine.
When I first tried goodnessknows® snack squares, I was pleasantly surprised! Each package has 4 squares and it fulfills my salty/sweet cravings for only 150 calories. Much better than a big bowl of ice cream! The squares have big bites of almonds, sweet dried fruit and amazing dark chocolate on the bottom. Heads up: these are by the registers at Walmart, not the aisle with bars/granola. My favorite goodnessknows® flavor is the cranberry, almond, dark chocolate–SO yummy! Their tagline is “goodness to greatness” which is perfect–after one of these treats, I’m ready to conquer my goals without crazy cravings. There is also a goodnessknows® snack squares in Peach & Cherry, Almond, Dark Chocolate flavor! YUM!
Right now, there is a coupon offered on the Walmart website for $0.50/2!
There is also a #tryalittlegoodnesssweepstakes going on right now! You can win over $2500 in prizes by sharing a goodnessknows® photo or inspirational quote! There are 2 Fitbit Surges up for grabs, plus a $200 Lululemon gift card. I’ve never been to Lululemon, but I’ve heard raves about it! Be sure to enter!

Winter is prime season to want to hibernate and eat comfort food, but I’m determined to get back on track! Here are a few tips I have for you–be sure to comment with any additional tips! Five Tips To Get Back on Track with Your Goals
Pack your gym bag and leave it by the door! It’s so easy for me to find excuses not to go workout. When the gym bag is packed and ready to go by the door, I see it all day long. It’s an incentive to actually GO to the gym. Be sure to keep everything ready to go: shoes, water bottle, pad lock, gym pass, etc. I even put a goodnessknows® snack squares in there for an after workout treat with my apple/pear/banana. Even if you don’t go to the gym, having your workout shoes visible helps!
Start off with small goals. Instead of saying “I want to workout EVERYDAY”, try “My goal is to walk 10k steps a day and workout 3 times per week.” Keeping your goals attainable will lead to better success!
Water! Staying hydrated is SO important. It’s always recommended to drink 0.5 to 1 oz per pound of body weight. I love to add lemon or berries to switch it up. Once you start drinking enough water, your energy level will go way up!
Prep Healthy Snacks. Have snacks handy to grab on the go. I love granola for yogurt, cut veggies, fruit in bowls and even mason jar salads. When everything is ready, you won’t have any excuses! I love to make ranch with Greek yogurt for a dipper. The goodnessknows® snack squares are great to keep on hand for a special treat.
Follow the 80/20 rule. You can’t be perfect all of the time! I love the 80/20 rule so you don’t go crazy. 80% of the time make healthy choices, 20% indulge. I think it’s important to not feel guilty if you have a beer or some cake at a party. Since there is a full moon AND Halloween this week, I thought the teachers might want a little afternoon pick-me-up! I made them a little tray of goodnessknows® snack squares to put in the teacher’s lounge tomorrow. They can easily grab these and snack during a break! Have you tried goodnessknows® snack squares? What is your favorite healthy snack?
I just picked a few goodnessknows® snack squares last week. They are great to keep in my purse for a quick snack! (client)
