Proactiv Review First Impressions

During my teen years, my face was pretty clear. I know, I know…shut up, right? I didn’t realize how lucky I was! Surprisingly enough, I didn’t have many issues with acne until after I had my third baby, Gabby. A combination of stress (ummm, hello, toddler twins and a BABY!) and hormones started to show on my face. For the first time, I had problem skin. It started with just random chin breakouts, then it turned into scarring and more frequent acne.  I never thought I would be in my late 20’s dealing with this!

After trying a few different face washes, masks, toners and home remedies, I knew I had to try something new. I went from barely wearing makeup, to needing at least BB cream and powder to feel comfortable out in public. I’d seen Proactiv infomercials in the middle of the night featuring celebrities, but I never thought to try it. Well, maybe I thought “NO WAY! Katy Perry uses Proactiv!?”

When you’re an adult experiencing breakouts, no matter how confident you are, it’s hard to remain positive sometimes. I don’t wear much makeup, but I found myself needing much more than normal to feel comfortable going to even just the store. Even though it was probably not super noticeable, I felt like EVERYONE could see every zit on my face.

When the opportunity to try Proactiv came up, I jumped right on board. It was time to find a solution to my problem…even if I have to share a scary, NO MAKEUP “before” shot.  I started using the samples I received just over a month ago. I’m not going to lie and say my skin is perfect now–it’s far from it. But I am seeing some great results. Why I'm Using Proactiv in my 30s • First Impressions and more via @DashOfEvans

So what exactly do I use? My kit came with 5 different products and I truly only use the 3-step system: renewing cleanser, revitalizing toner and repairing treatment.  The cleanser is an exfoliant, which I’m not sure if I like. I really only exfoliate 1-2 times per week. I have found I don’t need much of a moisturizer yet. I’m sure once winter hits, I’ll try the other two products, especially the oil-free moisture.

I’m such a fan of pretty smelling products and Proactiv does NOT smell good. It has quite a medicinal scent. I guess adults don’t need citrus or pretty smelling products for their face, anyways right? If I can have clear skin, I’ll deal with it!Why I'm Using Proactiv in my 30s • First Impressions and more via @DashOfEvans

Overall, I am happy with it so far and I’ll be updating you again later with more results. Here’s my “before” photo. No makeup, freshly cleansed with Proactiv–I do have some lip balm, that’s it.  My chin is still a problem area, but I feel like the products are helping clear up my scars. FINGERS CROSSED!

Have you tried Proactiv before? I would love to hear your thoughts!
