Disclaimer: I was provided Chila ‘Orchata rum to create this recipe, but all opinions are my own. This recipe is for people 21+. Please drink responsibly…aka, this drink is STRONG.
Make any day a vacay with this new twist on a Jamaican Painkiller. It’s a perfect sunny day drink–but watch out! They’re tasty…and strong.
Yay! It’s Friday! Anyone else having a WEEK? I am so ready to relax and enjoy one or two of these Painkillers. If only I could be on a tropical vacation right now! Four years ago, Ricky and I had our honeymoon in Mexico. Our anniversary wasn’t quite as exciting yesterday, but the weather is beautiful at least! The forecast for this weekend looks fab and I plan on making up a batch of these FOR SURE.
I first discovered this drink at a (now closed) Jamaican bar in Madison: Jolly Bob’s. Since I’m obsessed with pineapple and fun drinks, I had to try this. It’s super tasty and perfect for a warm, summery day. Be warned: these are STRONG. It lives up to it’s name: drink one or two of these and you’ll feel NO pain.
This new twist on the original uses Chila ‘Orchata, a cinnamon rum. While you normally think of coffee drinks (or shots) when you think of cinnamon rum, it’s also great for fruity! The original Painkiller uses nutmeg to spice up the creamy drink, so I knew the cinnamon would be a great alternative!
Note: When you mix cream liquor with any juice, some separation may occur, but trust me–it’s still super tasty! No need to worry!

- 4 shots-Dark Rum (Such as Myers's)
- 4 shots-Chila 'Orchata
- 6 oz -Pineapple Juice
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/4 cup Coco Lopez (piña colada mix)
- 1 cup ice
- Nutmeg , to top
- Optional garnish: maraschino cherries and pineapple leaves
-
In a blender, add: rum, pineapple juice, pineapple, ice and Coco Lopez.
-
Blend until smooth.
-
Top with a shake of nutmeg.
-
Optional: garnish with cherries and 2 pineapple leaves. Serve in a tall hurricane glass or a stemless wine glass.
When mixing a cream liquor (like the Chila 'Orchata) with juice, some separation occurs. This is perfectly fine and still tasty!
If you don’t have tall hurricane glasses like this, you can enjoy in a stemless wine glass. Check your local Goodwill, they always seem to have extras!
How was your week? Do you need a Painkiller or two also?
that looks like a tasty painkiller! I’d love to try this : ) yum!

The way my week is going I could use one of these today lol. In all seriousness, I don’t drink mixed drinks very often but I’d like to try to make this one the next time I do make and serve some.
Now that looks like a great drink! I could use that right about now! This day does not want to end LOL! It’s 5 0′ Clock somewhere right?!
That looks really refreshing! I don’t drink alcohol, but I bet a virgin of this would be amazing too!

Oh wow. One of these would definitely hit the spot this weekend. It’s been a long week! Looks good!
That drink looks so good. I could go for one of these right now. Pineapple is one of my favorite flavors, so I know this has to taste great.
This sounds like an interesting drink. I will have to get the ingredients and give it a try.
Yum! This looks like the perfect Summer drink. Love all of the flavors. Can’t wait to try this after the baby is here next month!
Oh my gosh that looks so delicious. It’s been hot as blazes here in FL lately so this would be perfect.
Oh yes, this would be perfect! You might not notice the heat after one or two of these 🙂 We used to go to SC in the summers and my hair would get HUGE from the humidity. Ha!
I love the name of this drink!! I have not had one of these before it sounds delicious!

I am a huge fan of Rum, but I have never tried this brand. I love the marketing – the package/label. That tends to draw me in when I am shopping for new liquor to try. This drink sounds rather tasty!
I’m not a big rum drinker, but cinnamon cream sounds interesting. My BF loves rum, so he would probably enjoy it.
