Milestone Monday: Those first smiles

This post is made possible with support from the Association of University Centers on Disabilities through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” program. All opinions are my own.

Can you believe Liam is already over 2 months old? It seems like just yesterday I was announcing my pregnancy! I can’t say it’s been an easy breezy couple of months, but we are truly blessed to have him in our lives! After his birth, I suffered from a spinal headache which knocked me on my back, literally. That threw off our breastfeeding off the bat, but we are back on track, thankfully.

At first, his sleep schedule was also reversed, which meant we were up burning the midnight oil. I definitely had a chance to catch up on my favorite Bravo shows…and more! We are finally getting on track with the sleeping schedule and just a basic routine. With the other 3 in school during the day, we have plenty of time together during the day.

It’s fun to watch how much he grows and changes every single day. One day, he was sitting in his high chair while I was cooking and I said “Hi Bubba!” and he gave me this huge smile. Needless to say, it melted my heart. I love that he knows my voice and I can bring him so much joy! I have also noticed, he will perk up the minute he hears the girls’ voice, especially Olivia. Their peek-a-boo games and story reading sessions bring lots of smiles to Liam, too. The minute he hears Ricky’s voice, he will turn his head right around waiting for snuggles from Daddy.

He also really wants to communicate with us. I have a feeling the minute he starts talking,he will be like Olivia and babble non-stop. When we talk to him, he coos and seems to respond to us. It’s too cute! There are so many more milestones ahead, I am trying to enjoy every one and not rush to the next one. Let’s be honest, I’m hoping he waits a little longer until he starts scooting.

If you’re ever wondering what milestones your infant or child should be reaching, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has so many resources available for parents through their. campaign. I love any information I can get my hands on, especially from a reliable source!

  • Starting this month, there is a available on both iOS and Android.
  • Order a, which includes a Milestone Moments booklet with checklists for ages 2 months to 5 years and a growth chart

If you ever have any concerns, I always believe that open conversations with your doctor are vital. On the website there is a great tip sheet for and also how to help your child.
