Hello and welcome!! My name is Ashleigh and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This site shares delicious home-cooked meals, with a little help from the store. I’ve been a bargain shopper since I was in elementary school (I can spot a clearance sticker from a mile away!) and I also love to show people how to save money.
My blog is a mixing bowl of ideas, hence the Dash of Evans name…a dash of tips, dash of food…a dash of the Evans family! As a multicultural family, we love to blend traditions and create our own! Being a mom of FOUR (11 year old twin girls, an 8 year old daughter and a toddler boy) there’s never a dull moment around here!
In 2018, I launched an alcohol infusion line, InBooze, which you infuse your favorite alcohol using dehydrated fruits, veggies and herbs. The holiday season was a huge success and I can’t wait to keep this train rolling. You can order on Etsy or through my website.
I started blogging at my first site, Being Cheap is Easy in 2010, when I was stuck home with twin babies. In 2015, I decided it was time to change my site and focus more on food. While cooking and recipe creation is my main interest, I like to share a dash of everything else going on: family, fun, crafts, travel and more!
Also, I like to share tips on how to save money since I am quite frugal. Since I spend most of my time in the kitchen feeding 3 little girls who eat like football players, I share tasty recipes for easy and inexpensive meals. Heads up: I also make killer cocktails and I’ll never pass on a nice glass of wine or craft beer.
About the Evans Family!
Ricky and I have been together since 05/05/05, where he won me over with margaritas and laughs. We got married in 2012 and love to Netflix and chill together after the kiddos go to bed. Date nights at home are essential! As previous semi-pro football player, Ricky loves to stay active by running in races/triathlons, plus doing DIY projects around the house. He’s SO happy to finally have a son (Liam is actually a Jr named after him– Richard William “Liam”).
Olivia, my 11 year old twin, loves to help me in the kitchen. She reads superhero books by the dozen and is super interested in science and crafts, especially drawing. During the winter months, she plays basketball, in the summer she turns into a little fish, swimming non-stop!
Maddie, my other 11 year old twin, loves to read and listen to music. The Trolls soundtrack is on constant repeat in our house right now! When she’s not singing, she’s flipping and cartwheeling through our house–Maddie is our gymnast!
Gabby, my 8 year old, loves to help me in the kitchen and she is our little goofball. She also loves music, reading and anything Disney. Her favorite movie right now is Moana, because they share the same curls. During the summer, she plays softball and swims like a mermaid daily.
Liam, our newest addition born in August 2017, is the first boy. He has been keeping me on my toes and is a total cuddle bug. I love to make baby food for him and try out all of the new items on the market…my how things have changed in the past 6 years since I last had a baby! My lactation muffin recipe has been taking off on Pinterest. I would love to collaborate with brands that focus on baby items, since everything has changed so much!
Aside from blogging, I am also very active at the girls’ elementary school as the PTA President. I am a huge advocate of early literacy and providing children with as many experiences as possible! We love to travel to visit museums and historical places around the Midwest.
Looking for TV coverage? I have quite a few TV segments under my belt. If you’d like to collaborate for a segment, please reach out.
