This post is brought to you by The Huntington National Bank and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
With a family of 6, keeping on track of our money and staying on budget is essential. I am proud to bank with Huntington for my personal and business needs. What are your biggest financial woes?
Disclosure: I am excited to announce that I am working with Huntington Bank and will serve as a brand ambassador over this year! This is a perfect collaboration for me and all opinions are my own. I can’t wait to share some great information with you!
Last month, I flew out to the Huntington National Bank Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio to kick off this year-long ambassadorship. It was so fun to see the beautiful building and meet all of the other Ambassadors. We’re from all over the Midwest and everyone has their own tips and tricks when it comes to budgets and money. I can’t wait to learn from everyone.
The tour was by far my favorite part–have you been to the Huntington building? It is absolutely breathtaking…I can’t imagine that being my everyday bank. From the tall, decorated ceilings to the art deco touches, it was so fun to have an official tour. We also got to go down to the vault and see where the lock boxes are. That door is HEAVY!
We also learned about some new and exciting changes coming to Huntington this year. I can’t wait to share things as they roll out–they are doing so much to make banking easy for us. It can be so easy to get intimidated by money and learning how to save. Huntington Bank offers so many different tools, you might not even know about them or how to use them!
I am most excited about the new ways to designate money for saving. Instead of the old envelope method, you can list things you’re saving for right in the tools in The Hub. Right now, I know that I need to save for back-to-school (yes, already!), an upcoming vacation and items for my business. Easily funneling my money to different areas will be a lifesaver!
This year has been crazy, to say the least. Since starting my company, in October, things have snowballed quickly. Aside from starting a business and learning the ropes with that, we also decided it was time to upgrade our home. Our market here in Grand Rapids is insane, so it was quite a feat to find a new home that we loved.
With all of these huge financial changes going on, budgeting and being on top of where our money is going is essential. I knew when it was time to set up a bank account for my business, I’d turn to Huntington Bank. I wanted a bank that was convenient (located in my Meijer store), active in our community and had resources that help me for my personal and business banking.
My goals for this year are to really be conscious about where our money is going and find ways to save with every aspect of our lives. Since we just moved mid-June, as I was setting up our utilities and other items, I really shopped around to find the best deals. We cut cable a few years ago, but I found that were still subscribed up for too many streaming options that aren’t in use. Which ways do you cut corners on household utilities?
In June, I was at our Grand Rapids Pride festival and I couldn’t have been happier to see Huntington there with big smiles on their faces. As a co-leader for Free Mom Hugs here in Michigan, that was just one more thing to make me love banking with Huntington. Their presence in the community can be seen at most events.
Have you seen their new line of videos? I love how they show regular people and how they use Huntington for their banking needs. I can relate to Jane and Dontelle so much, I use sticky notes for everything!
Almost daily, I get questions about keeping up with a grocery budget or how to save money when shopping for your kids. As an ambassador this year, I will be sharing plenty of tips when it comes to saving as a family. Since I am also a business owner, I’d also love to share some ideas on how you can save for budgeting as a startup and some great resources I’ve found in the past few months.
If you’re a Huntington customer, I highly recommend spending a little extra time exploring the Hub as you’re checking your online banking stats. As you may have noticed, in the end of June it got a new look! The “Look Ahead Calendar SM“ area is where you can schedule all of your payments for items like utilities and other monthly/recurring bills. To see if I’m on track, the “Spend Analysis” is great to see exactly how you’re spending money and maybe some trouble areas that you can work on.
