This post is in collaboration with The Motherhood and MiMedia. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Back in the day I was SO good at printing off photos. I got my first digital camera as a graduation gift back in 2002 (yeah, I’m old….). That thing was heavy and held maybe 25 photos on the memory card. After a night out, I would upload the photos and get them printed immediately. As time went buy and cameras got snazzy, I became lazy with my digital files. I remember when I found out cell phones could take photos, my mind was BLOWN.
I honestly cannot remember the last time I’ve printed off photos. Poor Gabby’s baby book is not even a quarter finished. I have good intentions, but I have thousands upon thousands of photos, videos and documents to go through. Each computer brings old unsorted files and music–complete digital chaos. I’ve been searching for a remedy for quite some time now.
On the same boat as me? MiMedia is ready to help us. I’ve been using it for about a month now and I’m SO happy. Not completely organized yet, but on my way! Baby steps…
What IS MiMedia?
MiMedia is a monthly subscription cloud that SAFELY stores digital files. You can use it from you tablet, phone and computer so everything is connected. What I loved most about my inital experience was how easy it is to organize and delete files. My girls love to grab my phone without me noticing and take hundreds of random photos. I can easily delete those with a click. You can also import from Facebook, Dropbox and more!
How is it Safer?
On an item-to-item basis, you can select what content is shared and who you are sharing it with. Other files can be hidden away. If you lose your device, you can access files from a new device, after logging in. Sharing is also private, which is great for families. Say you want to share baby photos with your parents and family, but not the rest of the world. With MiMedia, you can have a place to share everything in a private space. The photos and videos can be accessed from any device!
Thoughts…
I am really, truly enjoying MiMedia. To be honest, a cloud service really scared me at first. With hundreds of personal photos of my kids, I really didn’t want to accidentally lose those! I am an android user, but most of my friends and family use Apple. I like that this can be used across all of the platforms seamlessly. I have also started to organize my documents. God forbid I lose this computer–at least I will have them all in one place!
Syncing my files initially takes QUITE some time. I would pause the upload during the day and allow it to upload files overnight. It does slow your computer down a bit. But once everything is uploaded, organizing can begin. It’s quite shocking how many digital files we carry around with us–it’s refreshing to take them all off of my phone and computer and store them in one place.
