Can you believe this week is Halloween? This fall is FLYING by! This past weekend, we did the costume scramble and tried to get everything in order for Thursday. We try to not buy too much candy beforehand because I end up finding little wrappers all around the house. Let’s be honest, Halloween candy is always tempting!
This recipe is a new twist on classic Monkey Bread. Once you start using fluffy King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for your Monkey Bread, you’ll never go back! There is a sticky caramel glaze that is paired with whatever candy you’d like to throw in the bowl. We really enjoyed caramels, candy coated chocolates and caramel peanut bars. The mixture of chocolate and caramel is a favorite of ours!
We always have 2-3 packages of King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls on hand in our freezer for easy dinners or fluffy dinner rolls as a side to ham or roasts. The sliders are always highly requested, too! Since the rolls are already cooked, this monkey bread bakes up quickly–just a quick toss in egg helps the cinnamon sugar stick.
I love that King’s Hawaiian rolls can be use for savory AND sweet recipes. I love how many easy recipes I can find on their website. S’mores? YES PLEASE!
If you don’t happen to have candy on hand, you could also add 1 cup chopped Granny Smith apples or pecans. YUM!
The caramel glaze couldn’t be easier, just a mixture of melted butter and brown sugar. As the Monkey Bread bakes, the caramel mixture heats up and oozes through the bread. A bundt pan is highly recommended for this!
The addition of candy is a nice surprise. I like to add a variety for almost a “surprise” in every bite. This is a great special treat for the kids to help with–plus, they’re pros at unwrapping the candy quickly. Ha! You can make this your own by adding 1 cup of any of your favorites, mostly ones consisting of chocolate or caramel. Not quite sure how sweet candies would taste!
