Ice cream is one of my major weaknesses. When I was growing up, we would walk to the Lickety Split in my hometown and get tasty treats all summer. Remember when kids just were OUTSIDE all day?! The best was when you could get a dipped cone with little candy eyes on it. Candy shell is the best.
This week has been freakishly warm for Michigan, upper 60s and 70s, so this post had to be rewritten a bit. I can’t remember the last time I’ve worn a tank top in November! Regardless of the weather, I buy ice cream year-round for a tasty treat. I try to make sure the kids eat 80% of it…otherwise I’ll eat it all. Nothing is better than watching Scandal on Thursday with ice cream and wine. Try it.
Klondike® Bars have been around forever, but now they’ve gotten a little face lift. There are 12 different varieties of ice cream bars and they come in convenient 6-packs. That means, everyone in the family gets one for dessert and I hide the extra one behind the frozen peas. You know, for those moments when I’m hiding in the pantry while the kids are going crazy during witching hour upstairs. No? You don’t do that too?
What flavors of chocolatey coated Klondike® ice cream bars are now available nationwide? Cookie Dough Swirl, Caramel Pretzel, Heath, REESE’S, Mint Chocolate Chip, Krunch, OREO, Dark Chocolate, Rocky Road, Double Chocolate, Neapolitan, and Original. I seriously stood in the freezer aisle contemplating for about 5 minutes. I ended up grabbing Cookie Dough Swirl, Heath, REESE’S and Mint Chocolate Chip. All are fantastic, by the way.
Aside from the classic chocolate coated ice cream bars, there are also Klondike® Kandy Bars, which are pretty much drool-worthy ice cream candy bars. Those also come in 6-bar packages and in 4 flavors: Fudge Krunch, Caramel & Peanuts, Cookies & Cream and Mint Fudge Cookie. Be sure to look out for those in the freezer right next to the bars!
We love to have people over for football “homegating” and it’s nice to have Klondike® bars on hand for a quick dessert. I made a platter with 4 different varieties and craft sticks, if anyone wanted a hands free way to eat their bars.
