Make a simple weeknight meal by using Stouffer’s Mac & Cheese. Paired with a make-your-own Salad bar, everyone in the house will be excited for dinnertime!
I’m officially 8-ish weeks away from having the little guy! Where has the time gone? I have no shame taking a little help from the grocery store for dinners lately–and let’s be honest, the kids enjoy the meals more anyway! While homemade meals are the “golden standard” for many families, we live in a busy world where whipping up homemade dishes every night can be challenging. Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese is an easy solution that you can feel good about feeding your family.
The girls have a fantastic program through the YMCA at school that teaches them about nutrition and using MyPlate. I love when they come home with new information about a food group and want to apply it at home! They’ve been interested in reading nutrition labels and adding more color to their plates. Interestingly enough, research shows that Americans are only meeting MyPlate recommendations for vegetables, fruit, proteins, dairy and grains seven days out of 365. Isn’t that crazy?! We’re trying to work on our meals at home, too!
Balance Your Plate is an educational program designed to help you put together delicious and nutritious meals that incorporate both frozen and fresh foods. The website offers plenty of information and even meal plans! Frozen prepared foods are a great time saver and there are so many new dishes and flavors to choose from. Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese is a staple in our house, I’ve loved it since I was little. Gabby prefers this over my homemade version, believe it or not!
Stouffer’s Mac & Cheese recipe includes real, simple ingredients, like freshly made pasta, cheddar cheese, milk and butter. I like to cook the Mac & Cheese in the toaster oven so it gets nice and golden, but using the microwave is just as delicious! To pair with our dish, our new favorite side is a MYO Salad Bar. I have found the girls are more willing to try new veggies and toppings this way! This is our chef salad version, but it’s fun to try this with other themes too: Greek, Taco, etc. Try adding beans, new cheeses, berries or different meats too! The possibilities are ENDLESS.
I prep our salad toppers ahead of time, so I simply have to set them up on the table once the Mac & Cheese is done cooking. I let the girls choose what they want, but they have to try a minimum of 4 items. The MYO salad bar is perfect in the summer too when it’s too hot to even think about cooking!
What’s your favorite Stouffer’s item from the freezer? Have you tried the family sized mac & cheese?
