Once you try this DIY Sour Mix, you’ll never purchase the store bought variety again! Super simple with fresh citrus, this takes your cocktails to the next level.
You should know by now, I love to make simple, delish cocktails–especially with fresh ingredients. Have you ever purchased sour mix from the store? It’s syrupy and SO sweet–it can ruin even the best whiskey or margarita.
I’ve been experimenting with infused vodka and simple syrups lately and they are so fun to add different flavors to. Then, I realized I never made my own sour mix! Since citrus is in season right now, this is a perfect time to make this. Plus, it’s a fun gift for the holidays! Pair the sour mix in a mason jar with a nice bottle of tequila or whiskey, a fun glass or two and a gourmet bottle of flavored soda. Nice, budget friendly basket idea!
Most sour mixes are just lemons and limes, but I love the touch of sweetness from an orange. You could also use red grapefruit. For juicing my own citrus, I love the KitchenIQ cup shown above. It has a nice measurement cup, plus it traps all of the seeds and pulp. Another great gift idea!
