Stop by your local At Home superstore for all of your dorm (and home!) needs…all budget friendly!
My sister, Marlie, is heading off to college in the fall. Michigan State University is SO lucky…plus I’m happy she’ll be living closer to us 🙂 I seriously don’t know how she is old enough for college already. I swear she was just in 5th grade!
Since it’s been a while since my dorm days (*cough* 14 years), I thought it would be fun to check out what’s available now. I honestly don’t think they would even let kids live in dorms like I did. I was on the 11th floor of a super old dorm that had all sorts of critters. That being said, I met some of my BEST friends in those dorm walls and wouldn’t trade those times back for anything!
In 2002, we brought a shower caddy, Twin XL sheets and a comforter. Oh, don’t forget a HUGE Dell desktop computer. I remember being excited about 24/7 internet–no more dial-up AOL! Does AIM even exist anymore?
Now things are a bit different. People actually decorate their dorms nicely, creating a home away from home. I can’t believe there are so many techie gadgets. You can download this super handy check-list from At Home. Aside from a great shopping list, they’ve also included some super helpful move-in hacks
Have you visited the At Home Superstore yet? They have ALL of your home needs, with rock bottom prices. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I stepped in the store. Aside from dorm essentials, you can find awesome gifts for weddings, showers and more! I love their motto “Tuition might be expensive, but your decor doesn’t have to be”.

Do you know someone heading off to college? What’s on their list?
Mmm, yep – I remember those days! I lived in a dorm at UM from 2005-07. The space was small but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything :). UM still has some pretty small freshman dorms too, room-space wise, so maybe AtHome would help with that.

I haven’t seen that store before. I’ll definitely need a list by the time my kids go to college – I never lived in a dorm even when I was attending college!
