Avoid morning breakfast chaos with frozen smoothie kits! Prep on Sunday for a whole week’s worth healthy green smoothies using Jif™ Peanut Powder & Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt.
I’m on Week 2 of a Biggest Loser weight loss challenge with some fellow twin moms. I eat relatively healthy on a normal basis, but my major problem has been making sure I eat consistently throughout the day. I tend to forget to eat for large chunks of time, making myself hungry at night. Not good for weight loss! The biggest step to remedy this problem is to EAT BREAKFAST.
That is easier said than done. Although we have quite a big chunk of time in the morning to get ready, I’m making breakfast, packing lunch boxes and keeping the kids in order. Having something simple to make, like a smoothie, is a total lifesaver.
During my Sunday prep day, I have been making 6 smoothie kits to put in the freezer for the week. In the morning, I just have to empty the contents of the baggie into the blender with some milk and honey. I take my cup to-go on the walk to school or in the car running errands. Breakfast problem solved!
I make a variety of smoothies, but this is my favorite: go-to GREEN smoothie. With the powdered Jif peanut butter, banana and vanilla Greek yogurt, it almost tastes like dessert! Yes, it’s green from spinach and kale, but you can barely taste it.
Powdered Jif is new to our grocery stores, have you seen it yet? It’s right in the regular aisle at Walmart with the rest of the peanut butter. I like to use the powdered variety because it has 85% less fat, but all of the peanut butter flavor. The powder is also tasty to mix with the vanilla Oikos Triple Zero Greek Nonfat yogurt and honey for an apple dipper.

- 32 oz Oikos Triple Zero vanilla Greek yogurt
- 6 bananas
- Jif Powdered PB
- 10 oz package of spinach/kale mixture, prewashed
- Place 1/2 cup of the Oikos vanilla yogurt in a muffin tin. The 32 oz container makes 7 yogurt "cups". Freeze until firm.
- Peel bananas, break in half. Freeze until firm.
- On a parchment lined baking sheet, spread out spinach/kale mix. Freeze.
- To form the smoothie kits, place one frozen yogurt cup, 2 banana halves, 1 cup spinach/kale, 3 Tablespoons of Jif Peanut Butter Powder and 1 Tablespoon of honey.
- Keep baggies in the freezer, labeled.
- To make 1 serving of the smoothie, place all ingredients into blender, plus 1/2 cup milk of choice. Blend until smooth!
I like to have a smaller smoothie blender on hand so I can take handheld cups on the go with me. The Oster® Blend-N-Go® MyBlend® is pocketbook friendly and easily found at Walmart. You can just fill, blend and go!
Other varieties I like to use with the 1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt “cups”:
- PB&J: 1/2 cup frozen Strawberries, 1/2 cup milk, 3 Tablespoons Jif Peanut Butter powder, 1 T honey
- Blueberry Ginger: 1 cup frozen spinach/kale, 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger, 1 Tablespoon honey, 1 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup milk of choice.
